An independently owned and highly successful SME is seeking an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join them in a newly created role. This is a highly entrepreneurial setting with a real sense of excitement about what the future could hold for the business, and expansion plans already taking shape.

Reporting to the Finance Director as part of a 3-person team, this growth-driven role comes with fantastic progression prospects. We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant or existing Assistant Accountant who has achieved at least Level 3 AAT or equivalent and is keen to continue their studies. Someone who has a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping including prepayments, accruals, and depreciation. Someone with a real passion for finance and a desire to prove themselves and progress their career.

You will enjoy a varied role with high-level responsibility after training including month and year-end duties. In addition, you will be offered a promotion to Management Accountant and potentially Financial Controller if expected performance and business growth is achieved. Duties:
  • Assist the Finance Director with the preparation of monthly management account schedules and other reporting
  • Accruals, prepayments and journal entry
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Credit card reconciliations and administration
  • Credit control, including new customer applications and chasing overdue debts
  • Preparing payment runs
  • Processing expense and business mileage claims
  • Holiday and sickness cover for purchase ledger clerk
  • Monitoring of email inbox, responding to customers and colleagues as required
  • Assist with financial audit preparations
  • Provide support to the Finance Director with ad hoc tasks as they arise
